I hope everyone has had a good
summer with lots of showing, wins
and enjoying family and friends.
The calendar says that fall is here,
but for at least us in Virginia we are the end of the year, I feel honored
not seeing much evidence of it yet.
Hopefully soon. Cooler weather
would be a welcome relief.
The 2017 National is just around
the corner. I know the show
committee is working hard to make
sure that it is a wonderful success.
Please offer any extra time that you
may have to helping them out. I am
sure they would welcome any extra
hands that you are willing to give. I
am hoping that we see a good entry,
especially in puppies. I am seeing
more out there than I have seen in
a couple of years. With our breed
numbers falling off more each year,
it is nice to see the new babies.
I would like to give applause to
Sheree Chan for the wonderful
job that she is doing with our Face
Book page. She goes above and
beyond to make sure that this page
is kept up to date with new articles
that apply to our breed, CCCI club
information and any regional club
information. Which brings up
the fact that she is having a hard
time getting our regional clubs to
pass along their specialty show
information and happenings to
her. Please, please, so everyone has
access to what your clubs are doing,

send her your information. It is to
your clubs’ benefit to do so.
As my second year as President
of the CCCI is coming to a close at
to have served the membership
and breed that I love. Being
President has been trying at
times, but overall a wonderful and
educational experience. It is not
an easy job but I know whoever
steps into the position in 2017 will
do a wonderful job. I have tried to
serve the membership to the best
of my ability. I feel like I succeeded
sometimes and failed sometimes. I
think that goes with the territory.
You can’t get it right 100% of the
time even though you try.
For the future I hope that everyone
will work closely together to
continue to make our club and
breed a success. We need to put
aside any pettiness or grudges that
we may have against others and
remember that we are all in this
together for one reason ….. the
love of our dogs. At this point in
time our membership is graying

the new members that are coming
into the breed, we need to make
sure that we are there for them in
answering questions about the dogs
and showing and just being helpful.
Mentoring seems to have taken a
bit of a backseat these days. We
want people to feel that they can
approach other members with any
questions or concerns that they may
have. I think older members can
seem intimidating to new members
sometimes. We need to make sure
that we are more open, receptive
and approachable. After all, they are
the future of our breed.
In closing, as always, hug your
dogs and be kind to your fellow
exhibitors.
