President’s
Message
First off, a big thank you to the 2017 Show Committee for putting on another
spectacular National Specialty week. It takes a great deal of time and effort to put on a
National Specialty and the Show Committee handled everything extremely well. I also
want to pay compliment to all winners during the week. The competition was very strong
this year and bodes well for the future of our breed.
With another successful National Specialty behind us, we now look forward to the 2018
National Specialty in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mark your calendars now to attend from April
15th through the 21st. As we did not receive a bid to host the 2018 National Specialty, this
is the first time that the Board of Director’s will be putting on the National Specialty show.
Carmen Blankenship has stepped up as Show chairman with Board members taking on
the other Committee positions.
At the annual meeting, the Board of Director’s had a very productive one-day meeting
and following are the highlights:
• Approved the Show Committee and logo for the 2018 National Specialty
• Approved a new “Award of Excellence” program for Chows that have a Championship, pass their CGC test and pass
all health clearances by a Board-Certified specialist
• Approved writing a letter to all judges regarding the proper examination of the Chow, which will be published in
Chow Life and in the AKC Judges Newsletter.
• Approved suggested changes to the CCCI By-Laws. The recommended revisions will be sent out to the Membership
for approval later this year.
• Approved a letter on the “Fallacy of Chow Chow Colors” to be published on the CCCI website and our Facebook
page
• Approved soliciting quotes for a needed redesign of the CCCI website
• Approved a bid for the 2019 National Specialty in Orlando, Florida from April 20th to the 26th
• Selected the Nominating Committee for 2018 with Paula Titon as Chair.
As I have said before, I am a firm believer that the Chow club belongs to all the members and if you have any ideas or
suggestions to promote the Club, please get in touch with me at your convenience as I am always open to new ideas.
