Meet the Breeder
Frank & Sandra Holloway
Q. Tell us a little about yourself
outside of dogs – i.e. family,
work, other hobbies
Sandra is doing this interview as
Frank says she is the backbone of
their family & kennel.
I’m a north-east girl, Frank a
mid-west boy. Having both been
married before our meeting was
very casual & things moved slowly
but here we are 33 years later. We
are both retired from our jobs &
mostly from dog shows & breeding.
I am, however, working 3 days a
week at a local department store. I time) & Frank had an obedience

now to have Jen Stroop,

our pedigrees & name
going. My two sisters &
95 year old Mom live in
NJ. Frank’s family is in
Oklahoma. I am blessed
to have my daughter
and her husband and
granddaughter, Olivia, live
just around the corner
from us. Frank’s 4 boys
live in the US & Europe as
does his 8 grandchildren,3
here in the states & 5 in
Europe. We now live in
a golf resort area in the
Sandhills of NC.

I would have never
thought we would
house 35 dogs at one
time, breed & show
when we first met. It
has been a great life !!! meant !! That was it, I was hooked.
Q. Tell us, briefly,
why and when you got involved
in purebred dogs, and with
Chow Chows in particular. How
did this progress into showing
and eventually breeding?
I had a show quality Jap Chin (did
not realize what that meant at the
Golden. I had never been to a dog
show & as a surprise day outing
Frank took us to a show--well: the
first breed I see are Jap Chins being
groomed to show. We talked to
people ringside & the handler with

the Breed dog also had WB so he
asked me to ‘just walk his bitch
around the ring” OMG I was a
wreck & than when “MY’ class bitch
won BOB I had no idea what that
I did not want another Chin so we
went looking for a Peke. To make
a long story short we did get a Peke
but soon learned it was not show
quality. We were told to breed her
to a good male & keep a puppy. I
have since learned that is not good
advice. When going to do that
breeding we met Chow puppies &
fell in love. At that time we met
Ch.Koby’s Cassanova of Sweetkins
“LoverBoy’. I still remember him
getting on my lap in a big stuffed
chair. Not long after we purchased
out first chow, a cinnamon female
‘China”, did not understand color at
that time. Then came Mike-Mar’s
