Nileen Brewer, Age 73
“Good better best never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best” This is a quote that has always inspired my grandma throughout her adult life. She is known for always being kind, respectful and especially loving. Nileen Brewer has done so much for me and many others, she is always kind and loving to everyone. She is an inspiration to me because she always is an intelligent person who is outgoing and is always showing care for others. This is why I chose her for the life legacy project.
Nileen was given her name because she was was a surprise twin and her sister's name was Kathleen and they wanted it to rhyme. She was born in the Swedish hospital at Seattle on June 20, 1943. She lives in Arizona in the winters and Sedro-Woolley in the summer, she is spending her days visiting with lots of people and golfing with her friends. Throughout the day she tries to always keep good thoughts “I don't dwell on the negatives but I do dwell on the positives” One of her proudest moments was seeing her son play in the world series and signing autographs for young kids. Things haven’t always been easy for Nileen though. When she was younger her family didn't have much money so things weren't too easy for her and her family. But her principal in grade school helped her out a lot because he always believed in her even when no one else did. Nileen really enjoys golfing and making memories with her family. Family happiness and kindness is and always will be the most important thing to her.
Nileen and her husband Dave Brewer are married and they enjoy riding bikes, playing cards and watching movies together. They have two sons, Darrick and Darin, who grew up in Sedro-Woolley and played basketball, football and baseball. Darin went on to play college baseball at Lewis-Clark State where he went on to win a world series ring. Both of their sons are married and have two kids each. Nileen often works at Avalon golf course where she is the course manager. Nileen has always been important to me and always teaches me how to golf on our spare time.
Nileen has benefited my life because she has been there for me and she cares about me. She has earned respect from people because she likes to help when they are in need. All day, everyday she is caring and nice. My grandma taught me to always be a nice person no matter what, to always smile, to be compassionate, and have patience. My sister is also somebody who is very unique in her own way just like everybody is unique in their own way. I admire Nileen because she has been there for me and she likes to spend time with me and have fun with me. “That's my legacy I wish to hope people can remember me by my smile, my caring personality and my love for my family”-Nileen Brewer
