Thank you for a GREAT year!

It seems like yesterday we were kicking off 2018 with the San Antonio Housing Forecast that
the Greater San Antonio Builders Association (GSABA) hosts each year. Time seems to be
                                          flying by!
We have a busy first quarter planned with several key events in January and February. The
2019 San Antonio Housing Forecast will be held on Thursday, January 10th at the Omni
Colonnade Hotel starting at 8:00am, breakfast will be served. Partnerships are available
for this event with great benefits! Please call me at 210-696-3800 for details. We will publish
a 2019 Housing Forecast Magazine and there are exceptional advertising opportunities
                                          available as well.
Kristi Sutterfield Everyone looks forward to hearing from Jack Inselmann with MetroStudy as he shares his
             Executive Vice President
outlook for the coming year. We are excited to welcome Gene Dawson as a Keynote Speaker
for the 2019 Housing Forecast. Gene is the President of Pape-Dawson Engineers and served
on the Mayor’s Housing Task Force this year. You may have read about the five initiatives the
City will undertake in my September and October Builder Brief articles. Join us to gain valuable information on inventory levels for new
finished homes, homes under construction, developed lots and preowned homes. The speaker’s presentation will be included in the
              Housing Forecast magazine.
We will host our final codes training class with the City of San Antonio’s Development Services Department (DSD) on Thursday,
January 17th from 11:30am to 1:00pm in the Ray Ellison Ballroom. The workshop will include new and invaluable information on
the Top Ten Turndowns in the City of San Antonio since the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC) and the International Energy
Conservation Code (IECC) bodies went into effect on October 1 . The cost is $15 per member and includes lunch and handouts. If you
                                                           st
haven’t registered (this class was rescheduled, and you may have registered/paid) you can register on line at www.sabuilders.com. I
would like to thank our code training partners - Owens Corning and TopBuild along with our lunch partner, Beacon Roofing.
Education and Training will be a top priority of your leadership team in 2019. We have a Sales Series class in the works, as well as a
Legal and Contracts Update Class being scheduled. We will share the dates and times of all classes scheduled in the January Builder
Brief. Partnerships are available for these two education sessions. They come with great benefits and are very affordable.
If you have an interest in networking and speaking to dozens of builder members, please call me at 210-696-3800. I would love to
hear your feedback and recommendations on any trainings or speakers you would like for us to consider for 2019.
Please mark your calendars for the Chili Cook-Off that will be held on Friday, February 1st at Raymond Russell Park. This fun event
benefits our San Antonio Builders Political Action Committee (SABPAC). Next year, the San Antonio Mayor and entire City Council
are up for re-election along with several other key elected officials in the cities we are building in. We strive to form relationships with
every elected official and we support pro-housing candidates in the 22 counties that we serve. The washer tournament, chili cook-off,
exhibit booths, and dance is a blast and raises money for SABPAC making this is an important event.
I’m excited to welcome in a new year and a new President, Jeff Buell, with Sitterle Homes. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work
with our 2018 President, Bryan Smith with Vision Design Build. We’ve had a great year with many accomplishments. Thank you Bryan.
This is my favorite time of the year and I am looking forward to taking some time off to recharge between Christmas and New Year.
The office will be closed starting Monday, December 24th and we will be ready to take on 2019 on Wednesday, January 2nd. There will
be GSABA staff members working during the week of Christmas, but we will be working flex hours so please feel free to email me or
any member of my team during this time frame.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a member of GSABA. We couldn’t do what we do without the incredible
members and dedicated leaders of our Association!

Warmest wishes for a blessed Holiday Season,
