A Message from the President

We have a lot of great things going on at your Association! We
just wrapped up the most successful Fishing Tournament in Port
Aransas that we have ever hosted. I want to thank Gilbert Sanchez
and his committee for all their hard work and a special thank you
to our sponsors. J.P. Hart Lumber served a fabulous dinner and
we couldn’t have put on this successful and fun event without
Bryan Smith Keith Zars Pools, StrucSure Home Warranty, Owens Corning, James
President Hardie Building Products, Weyerhaeuser, TopBuild, Expressions
Home Gallery, Cornerstone Home Lending, Factory Builder Stores,
Hotchkiss Insurance, Beacon Roofing Supply, Ellen Lighting & Hardware, Urban Concrete
and Allura Fiber Cement.
We will host the Summit Awards on Saturday night, July 28th starting at 6:00pm at the
Omni Hotel and dinner will be served at 7pm. The theme of this year’s awards is the Black &
White Ball. Join us in your finest black and/or white attire. Each year at the Summit Awards,
we honor the best in the homebuilding industry with over 500 attending members. Scott
Whisenant with StrucSure Home Warranty will be our Master of Ceremonies this year, and
we are grateful for our members who partner with us to make it a memorable evening.

I want to personally invite you to the Sporting Clays Tournament that will be held at the
st
National Shooting Complex located at 5931 Roft Road on Wednesday, August 1 at 8:00am.
Christian Finke with Builders FirstSource chairs this event and he knows how to put on an
event! The entry fee is $500 for a team of four and includes the tournament, breakfast,
lunch, drinks and more.

We have really ramped up our education program at your Association. I wrote about the
upcoming code classes last month. Our Sales & Marketing Council is excited to present a
new Sales Series with three classes scheduled for Thursday, July 19, August 2, and August
23 at the Association. Debora Trimpe, PHD is a nationally recognized speaker and trainer.
If you are in sales, you will not want to miss these dynamite classes. Please see more
information on page 20 and 21 of this month’s Builder Brief.
Thank you for being a member of GSABA. If you are interested in serving on the Board
of Directors or would like to nominate someone to serve, please email Kristi Sutterfield at

a three-year term.
