THE NEW APPROACH - ADJOURNMENTS UNDER THE
CRIMINAL PROCEDURE RULES
St. Lucia – Criminal Procedure Rules 22 of 2015
Application for adjournment
3.8-(1) Save in exceptional circumstances, a notice of application for
adjournment shall be made in writing, giving reasons for the application,
not less that fourteen days prior to the date of the hearing or trial, through
the office of the Criminal Division.
(2) An application for adjournment shall be granted only if good cause is
shown.
(3) Unless the Court orders otherwise, a defendant and any witness who
is bound to appear must appear in Court on the date set for the hearing of
an application for adjournment.
