 A Goodyear Hearing allows the defence to request

an indication of the likely maximum sentence

should the defendants plead guilty. Goodyear

Hearings allow defendants to hear what the

sentence will be before they enter a guilty plea.

 A Goodyear indication must be sought on the basis

of the actual facts of the case, not hypothetical facts.

Any issues between the prosecution and defence

must be resolved before the Judge will accede to a

request for an indication.
