“Benchmark Sentences”

                          • What is a Benchmark Sentence?

A ‘benchmark’ is a sentencing norm prevailing on the mind of every judge:

                          • Ensuring consistency

                          • It is not cast in stone

                          • It does not take away individualistic approach

                          • It provides a focal point

                          • It lays down careful parameters of reasoning
