The Honourable Mr. Justice Adrian Saunders, President, CCJ
The Honourable Mr. Justice Adrian Saunders, President of
the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), is a native of St.
Vincent and the Grenadines. He holds a Bachelor of Laws
degree from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill)
and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding
Law School in Trinidad & Tobago in 1977.
The Honourable Mr. Justice Saunders joined the Eastern
Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) High Court Bench in
1996, after 19 years of private practice. On May 1, 2003 he
was appointed to the ECSC’s Court of Appeal and served as
acting Chief Justice between 2004 and 2005.
The Honourable Mr. Justice Saunders was among the first cohort of judges to join the
CCJ bench in 2005, before elevating to the office of Court President on July 4, 2018.
The Hononurable Justice Davidson Kelvin Baptiste, Justice of Appeal ECSC
His Lordship, the Hon. Justice Davidson Kelvin Baptiste
was born in the Commonwealth of Dominica and was
admitted to practice in Dominica in 1984 after being
called to the Bar in the Commonwealth of Dominica in
1984 and in the British Virgin Islands in 1993.
His Lordship is a graduate of the University of the West
Indies, Cave Hill Campus, where he obtained his
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a Master of Laws
(LL.M) from the University of Wales. His Lordship
obtained his Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh
Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago.
Prior to joining the bench, his Lordship served as the
State Attorney of the Commonwealth of Dominica from 1984 - 1986. From 1986-1993
his Lordship served the government and people of the British Virgin Islands as Crown
Counsel, Senior Crown Counsel, Additional Magistrate, Acting Registrar of the High
Court and Acting Attorney General.
Upon returning to the Commonwealth of Dominica his Lordship practiced privately
before returning to the public service in 1995-1998 where he served in various
capacities including Director of Public Prosecutions and Solicitor General.
From 1997-1998 His Lordship joined the Bench of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme
Court as acting High Court Judge assigned to the island of Saint Vincent and the
Grenadines.
After serving the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court for a year, as an acting High Court
Judge His Lordship returned to private practice from 1999 to 2001.
In May 2010 His Lordship was appointed as judge of the Court of Appeal of the Eastern
Caribbean Supreme Court after acting in the post from April 2009 to April 2010.
