Yearling breaking:

$67 a day, which drops to $45 when the
horses are turned out.

Training costs when
stabled at a racetrack:

$77 a day which covers everything other
than veterinarian bills, van costs, stakes,
or other nomination fees.

Owners are also responsible for their
individual licensing costs.

Additional charges
include:

• Monthly blacksmith work, typically four
    shoes changed every 30 days.
    $160 a month.

• Supplements $150 per month.

• Typical veterinarian bill for a healthy
    horse: $300 a month.

Flynn says, “Clients should expect to pay
$1,500 (basic turn-out) to $4,000 (full training
at the track) a month for each horse”.
