Nov-Dec 2017 – Safety is the best present!

Buddy’s Christmas Wish

As you know we are about to enter the busiest time of year in Retail. November/December last year
were our highest months of injuries recorded and this year we want to change that.
WorkCover has analysed claims data and has identified some reasons for the increase in injuries.

These include:

• Staff working longer hours to finish of jobs, increasing the chance of fatigue and accidents,
• To cope with extra workloads, temporary staff or school leavers are being employed
without proper training and induction to safety processes
• The increase in social activities and events at this time of year can leave works tired and

rundown which can impact their concentration levels at work, especially around
machinery
• Financial hardship at this time of year due to increase spending and reduce work
hours can create a mental burden which may also impact concentration levels.

• Workers becoming deconditioned due to higher levels of food and alcohol consumption
and periods of less activity.

Here at PETstock, we always aim to improve, and our team’s Safety is no different.

This activity book can help minimise these risks. Because after all…all I want for Christmas

is for my teammates to be safe.
