CARNIVAL EVENTS
The best footballers with an intellectual disability from around Australia participating in the Carnival have an action packed week on and off the field. The fast paced Lightning Carnival round will be followed with four games to be played by each team. In addition, teams will participate in education sessions, hosting a schools clinic, meeting local football teams and exploring the region. The importance of sharing their inspirational stories and skills with the community is always a highlight of the AFL National Inclusion Carnival.
The football skills clinic will be hosted by teams from the Inclusion Carnival for students from around Launceston with an intellectual disability. The aim of this session is to learn, get involved and have fun.
Local football clubs have embraced the Carnival and have invited each team to dinner. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community and further showcase what the Carnival is all about. These clubs involved are Uni-Mowbray Eagles, St Patricks Saints, Old Launceston Blues, Old Scotch Collegians, Evandale Eagles, Rocherlea Tigers, Bridgenorth Parrots and Deloraine FC.
The teams also participate in education sessions hosted by businesses in the Launceston community. These sessions will cover Healthy Minds, Healthy Eating, Preparing for Employment and Cyber Bullying.
At the conclusion of the carnival the prestigious All-Australian team will be selected from a week long voting process. We wish all of the teams and individuals all the best for the 2018 AFL National Inclusion Carnival.
