P4 INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
To all participants, umpires, coaches, support sta and their families, welcome to Tasmania for the 2018 AFL National Inclusion Carnival to be contested here in Launceston from 18-23 June.
I understand the Carnival will be
held at venues right across the
City of Launceston, including
University of Tasmania Stadium
and Invermay Park, for which
we are very grateful for councils
excellent support in preparation
and delivery of venues for
this event. I’d like to thank
our Community Partner New
Horizons Club who have been
very proactive in securing the event for Tasmania and also in planning and supporting event operations. Likewise, Tourism Northern Tasmania have been pivotal in helping get the event to Tasmania and ensuring excellent promotion and support.
It will be very exciting that the carnival will result in a Grand Final being played as a curtain-raiser to the Hawthorn v Gold Coast AFL game on June 23 at UTAS Stadium. We thank Hawthorn FC in particular for making that a possibility and for their great support of the Carnival.
I believe this is the rst time the event will be held in the state, and with Tasmania having the highest rate of disability in Australia, we are looking forward to delivering a professional event for the community to play in, enjoy watching, and hopefully get excited about getting further involved in future. With that said, I’d like to wish all teams, players, o cials and supporters a great week in Launceston and Tasmania!
