RESEARCH: INSTITUTES, GRANTS, AND PUBLICATIONS
CCNM’s research department launches a series
of innovative whole systems studies collaborating with Canada Post Corporation and Canadian Union of Postal Workers, commencing with
focus groups and followed by investigation of adjunctive naturopathic care for chronic back
pain. CCNM then conducts a series of whole practice randomized clinical trials with outcomes demonstrating cost reduction and effectiveness for cardiovascular disease prevention, low back pain, and effectiveness for shoulder pain, and anxiety. First led by Ed Mills and then by Dugald Seely, this work involved major contributions from Patricia Herman, Orest Szczurko, Kieran Cooley, Heidi Fritz, Bob Bernhardt, Craig Herrington, Serenity Aberdour, Ryan Bradley, David Lescheid, Tara Gignac, Philip Rouchotas, Qi Zhou and Gordon Guyatt. Landmark collaboration in redefining research framing and methodology with emphasis on whole system delivery and measurable economic and clinical outcomes.
