Naturopathic Medical Students Association (NMSA) founded by student leaders and co- founders Jonci Jensen, joined by Jaclyn Chasse (Bastyr), Corinne Sell (NCNM), Alexis Chesney (UBCNM), Cheri King (NCNM), and Leila Fosdick-Turner (SCNM). Dr. Jensen, then a student, attended American Medical Student Association (AMSA) National Convention in 2005 and took action to create similar organization
for naturopathic students. NMSA replaced the International Naturopathic Student Association (INSA), originally formed in 1996 at CCNM to build community among ND students at different schools through annual summer gatherings.
Naturopathic Medical Student (NMSA) hosts inaugural Annual Conference.
NMSA becomes affiliate member of American Medical Student Association (AMSA).
Naturopathic Medicine Special Interest Group developed.
LICENSURE, EXAMINATIONS, REGULATORY, AND LICENSING BOARDS
General Naturopathic Council established in the United Kingdom to “regulate and support naturopathic practitioners” and to establish national occupational standards.
Idaho passes new state licensure law, SB 1158, led by Todd Schlapfer, ND.
Victoria, Australia, provincial government recommends statutory regulation of naturopaths by publishing Lin Report (The Practice and Regulatory Requirements of Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine) and begins legislative process. New South Wales, South Australia, and Western Australia agree to observe impact before pursuing. Legislation “parked” due to implementation of National Registration and Scheme by Council of Australian Governments.
