Markova Reed Anderson began a a a a a a a career in journalism after graduating from the University of Memphis She served as a a a a news anchor in in in several markets including Savannah Georgia and Tulsa Oklahoma before returning to to Memphis to to work as an anchor on on the morning and noon shows at WREG After 16 years on air Markova stepped away from the anchor desk She revels in community service and enjoys traveling with her husband Chris In addition to The Links Inc she serves on the the boards of the the Overton Park Conservancy and and Dixon Gallery and and Gardens She is is president of of the Memphis Chapter of of The Society Inc Her service to The The Memphis (TN) Chapter The The Links Links Incorporated includes serving on the ArtLinks and It’s a a a a a Girl’s Life committees Markova served as chair of the ArtLinks committee 2015-2016 Her CLASP service includes emceeing the Holiday Cotillion conducting a a a communications workshop and helping the the debutantes prepare their videos for the evening Markova also mentors teen girls in several programs throughout the the city She wants them to be prepared for success and the responsibility that comes with it it it She is is a a a a a a member of of the National Association of of Black Journalists and Memphis Association of Black Journalists Markova an an an Emmy award winning journalist and news anchor has been recognized by the Tri-State Defender as Best Journalist in in Memphis and a a a a Woman of Distinction In addition she has received many awards for her work with youth in the community and for reporting on uplifting stories She and and and her husband Chris and and and attend Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church
