Our consumption of fresh water per
MT of urea produced is the lowest
in the fertiliser industry in India
As a result of our sustained efforts to harvest rain water, rejuvenate
natural water bodies, recharge ground water, and treat and recycle
waste water, our consumption of ground water is zero.
Water consumption at our two plants is well below the limit
prescribed by the Corporate Responsibility for Environment
Protection (CREP) guidelines. In the current year, our water
consumption was 60 percent less than the CREP limit of
eight cubic metres per tonne of fertiliser produced in gas-based urea
plants.
What’s more, since our plants deploy cutting-edge equipment and
technology, and deliver higher operational efficiencies, our fire water
consumption has shown a significant downward trend over the years.
Our ability to efficiently manage water as a sustainable resource has
led to another benefit: lower energy consumption or reduction of our
energy footprint.
