who held office for three successive years. The other brethren who ruled over the lodge for more than one term were the first master W. Bro. C. R. M. Smythe (1923 and 24), the next master W. Bro. Sir. A. Y. G. Campbell (1925 and 26) W. Bro. C. A. Ramakrishnan (1972 and 73, during the Golden Jubilee), W. Bro. U. Krishnamohan (1982 and 83), W Bro. K. R. Kothandaraman (1990 and 92) and W Bro. T. K. Shanmuganandam (1993 and 94).
Our Lodge which was consecrated on 24-03-1923 has completed 100 years and R W Bro. Pratapkaran Paul has taken the mantle of the Lodge for the year 2023-24. With his acumen in freemasonry and with his rich experience by holding several active offices in the Regional Grand Lodge of Southern India and the Grand Lodge of India there is no doubt that he will take the lodge to greater heights. He had already proved his abilities by bringing in 36 brethren as joining members within three months of his taking charge. On the installation night, R. W. Bro. T. N. Manoharan who became the RGM on
the very next day, became a member.
While concluding it is most appropriate to recall and quote a few sentences of R W Bro. C. A. Ramakrishnan, ICS (Retd.), OSM, Past Master of MML in his essay “Retrospect and Prospect”
“What of the future? Our predecessors have left us a legacy of which we may justly be proud. It is up to us of the present generation to do likewise for our successors. May the GAOTU inspire us all to give of our best in the service of the MML. The cause of masonry requires nothing less.
While in the lodge we should give ourselves completely to the work without any reservation; we should put away all preoccupations, agitations from which we might have been suffering and concentrate on the work. If we do so we will find the work becomes exceedingly powerful. That is the only way to make Masonry effective, make the whole lodge alive, make the forms we create flow with life. Each should be a stream of influence which should flow from whatever is best in himself.
Coming to a masonic lodge should be a
deeply spiritual experience which vivifies us and refreshes us, tones us up and exalts us in some manner.”
