11. Recommendations
Many daughter units have been facing problems due to PAN / KYC issues. It would be prudent to resolve this issue at the Grand Lodge level rather than at the local level. It is recommended that miniature copies of the Warrant in a form of a certificate of registration be issued to all Lodges to enable them to produce this for applying for PAN cards and to open / operate bank accounts.
It would be good to have some sort of uniformity in the drafting and printing of the bye laws. A copy of a model is attached for your perusal.
With the advent of E-Governance in most fraternal organisations, it is prudent that GLI has a common protocol, database and standard codification of Membership ID to enable electronic submission of requisite forms and returns. It also helps in pulling out data to compile various reports.
In our opinion the Membership Coding should be as follows: Region Code (NI/EI/WI/SI) - State Code - Station Code - Lodge No - Individual Registration Number (first point of capture on initiation into the fraternity). This code is to be used across all bodies of GLI. For example my Regional Membership ID is KL-KT-245-X-20 where KL - State of Kerala, KT - Kottayam, 245 - Lodge Kottayam - X from a foreign constitution - Registration No in L245 (my first point of capture into the fraternity).
The Grand Board of General Purposes could consider:-
a) presenting the Lewis’ initiated into our fraternity with a ‘Lewis’ Lapel Pin (refer image below).
