Splice-On Pigtails Pros and Cons
PROS
► Low loss connection (typically 0.1dB) with the least reflectance
► Strong and reliable connection
► Greener due to less packaging,
consumables and onsite waste
► Low risk of contamination (dust cap stays on)
► Less material cost than preterminated
► Exact lengths not required
CONS
► Expensive splice machine that requires power and/or battery and maintenance
► Performance dependent on the quality of the cleave (high quality cleaver recommended)
► More time consuming installation compared to plug and play
► Limited mobility, needs work space
► Requires splice trays and sleeves
