Please print the calendar and keep it handy, especially to make a note of Saturday School dates, working Public Holidays, important school functions and compulsory activities.
There are times, however, when unforeseen changes are made to the calendar and we appeal to parents to be understanding.
COMPULSORY ACTIVITIES:
From time-to-time there will be compulsory activities on the calendar. Please ensure you diarise these dates ahead of time and do not make any arrangements that clash with these dates.
Special mention needs to be made of the St John’s D.S.G. Festival which takes place in May. Girls in Grades 11 and 12 and Choir are expected to attend the Chapel service. The Picnic Proms on the same day is compulsory for all Grade 8–12 girls. Families are encouraged to attend.
SATURDAY SCHOOL
School will start at 07h25 and end at 12h30.
Dates: as stated on the calendar each term.
These days are part of the academic programme and it is important for your daughter to attend. They follow a set timetable or there are blocked lessons or activities. Please do not view a Saturday School as not worthwhile. Many teachers may take advantage of a blocked period of time on a Saturday to do a group task or assessment, linked to the syllabus, or to show an educational DVD.
SCHOOL FEES
If you have any school fee queries, please contact Mrs Kathy des Tombe in the Accounts Department on 033 392 8088 or email finance@stjohnsdsg.com.
Please be aware that if your school fees have fallen into arrears, your daughter may not be permitted to go on excursions, tours and camps and may not attend social functions where payment to the school is required, including Formal Dinners and the Matric Dance.
