Page 5 - What You Need to Know to Find the Right Builder
P. 5
Introduction
Are you ready for this?
So, you’re interested in building a new home. You’ve probably started
looking to search engines or Facebook for helpful information. Perhaps you’ve
looked at magazines for design ideas. The thought of owning a new home is very
exciting but thinking about the construction part of a new home can be one of the
most frightening propositions you can imagine. This guide is here to let you know
that it doesn’t have to be a horrifying undertaking. With the right people and
good planning, the building process can be just as exciting and enjoyable as the
finished product. It’s a good idea to focus on the prize (your new home) but you
should also be able to enjoy the journey. While every home building client can
easily imagine themselves sitting in front of a warm fire in their new great room,
cooking a family meal in their new kitchen, or having a cookout on the spacious
new deck or patio, they may not always consider the process of getting to that
point. There are designs/plans that will need to be worked out, contracts and
commitments for large sums of money, banks or other financing companies to
deal with, real estate agents, contractors, time-lines, and many decisions that will
need to be made along the way.
Find the right answers to these next two questions and you’re on a track
that’s smooth and straightforward. Find the wrong answers and you could be on a
road to misery, disappointment and many years of unhappiness. The 2 questions
are, “Where do you start?” and “Who can you trust?” Both questions have the
same answer- A capable, trustworthy, conscientious builder! Choose the right
builder and not only will you end up with a home that you’ll love and be proud of,
but the process of building it will be smooth, enjoyable and rewarding. Chose the
wrong builder/contractor and risk cost overruns, poor workmanship, missed
deadlines, and disputes that you will regret for years to come. But, how do you
know who the right builder is? Hopefully this guide will get you thinking about a
few things before you hire your builder, and it will also help you to understand
the processes involved in building the home you’ll be proud to show off and enjoy
for years to come.
