Michel Bouzereau Côte de Beaune (Fra) The Bouzereau family has been cultivating vine in Meursault for 7 generations. Thanks to hard work and commitment to quality for 20 years, Michel Bouzereau has managed to extend the vineyards inherited from his father. In 1989, his son Jean-Baptiste joined the estate to learn the vineyard work and the tricks of the trade before fully taking over the 10.5-hectare property in 1999. Great wines are made in the vineyard and this belief drives every single gesture performed in the vineyard by Jean-Baptiste and his team. Every Chardonnay bunch is hand-harvested and then press gently before fermentation and maturation in barrels for 12 months “The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Caillerets has a clean and precise bouquet with attractive granite/wet limestone scents ltering through the green apple aromas. Not an intense Caillerets on the nose, but nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a nely tuned opening: citrus peel, peach skin and a touch of ginger. The acidity lends this more tension than some of the other whites from the domaine, and there is a lovely, caressing, waxy-textured nish that lingers in the mouth. Excellent this may actually surpass the 2015.” 93pts Wine Advocate Chandon de Briailles Biodynamic Côte de Beaune (Fra) In the ownership of the same family since 1834, the Domaine Chandon de Briailles currently belongs to the Count and Countess Aymard-Claude de Nicolay and their children. The Count inherited it from his grandmother, Countess Chandon de Briailles. François de Nicolay succeeded his mother, with his sister Claude in 2001. He very quickly realized the level of quality of the wines achieved thanks to this method and decided to convert the family domain. Biodynamics for the domain is also a growing method that preserves our terrestrial universe and it is durable. Through this method, the domain passes on to future generations parcels of land that are unpolluted and alive, capable of producing wines of great quality. That is to say: with charm, nesse and great aromatic complexity. The domaine is 13.7 hectares: one-third Savigny, Pernand and Corton. The grapes are partially de-stemmed with the proportion of whole clus- ter varying from 30 to 50% depending on the vintage. The wines stay on the lees for 12 to 15 months and then it is pushed with inert gas into big tanks for blending where it stays one or two months before bottling. “The 2015 vintage is a great success for Chandon de Briailles. Quiet improvements at this venerable address have con rmed their status as a benchmark source of Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton, with the domaine’s Corton Bressandes and Corton Clos du Roi constantly ranking among the very best wines produced from the hill of Corton.” Wine Advocate Jacques Carillon Côte de Beaune (Fra) The Carillon family has been making wine in the village of Pulig- ny-Montrachet since the 16th century, beginning with Jehan Caril- lon, who was a vintner in Puligny in 1520. After completing his studies at the winemaking school in Beaune, France, Jacques Carillon joined his father in the family vineyard in 1980. His specializations include wine- making and marketing. In 2010, Jacques and his wife Sylvia founded the Jacques Carillon vineyard with 5.25 hectares of vines, primarily in the village of Puligny-Montrachet. Chardonnay grapes are pressed pneumatically, and then the liquid is allowed to settle for 12-18 hours before putting it into barrels where acoholic and malolactic fermentations occur. The wine is aged on light lees for one year in oak, 15-20% new only to preserve the fruit avors and unique minerality that signs the terroir of Puligny-Mon- trachet. “Jacques Carillon’s 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Per- rières is showing brilliantly from bottle, offering up a classic bou- quet of crisp green apple, lemon oil and mandarin, complement- ed by some subtly exotic, musky top notes that lend this wine an old-fashioned feel and which weren’t perceptible from barrel.” 93pts Wine Advocate
