Loss Control
Staff Injuries
Procedure:
Policy Reference: GBRHF – Workers Compensation
Every employee is entitled to work under the safest possible conditions. In order to insure this, it is
necessary that every accident/injury be reported. Reporting must follow the procedure below:
1. All incidents/accidents must be reported by the employee to their Supervisor within twenty-four
(24) hours after the incident occurs. In the case of injury an accident report must be filled out
within twenty-four (24) hours.
2. If there is an employee accident, the employee is to report it to the school nurse/supervisor and
fill out the NOTICE OF EMPLOYEE INJURY Form.
3. If the employee needs medical treatment, they may call this number
__________________________ or make an appointment with their personal care physician.
4. The attending healthcare professional must provide notice to the school district of fitness to return
to duty before employee may return.
5. The report will be submitted immediately to the Business Administrator for review.
6. After conferring with HR, notice will be provided to the employee and Principal/Supervisor
of employee’s ability to return to work.
If the accident or injury is an emergency, the employee may be treated at the nearest hospital and
report the accident as soon as possible to the Business Administrator.
Employee should instruct the hospital, doctor or pharmacy that a claim exists through HCSD for
Workers’ Compensation.
The employee should not use his/her personal insurance card as this will complicate, delay or prohibit
payment of any medical bills.
After examination or treatment by emergency doctor or referred doctor, the employee must report back to
work with the Return to Work Form.
LITIGATION/LIABILITY
Any incidents having the slightest possibility of potential litigation/liability must be reported to the
Business Administrator immediately.
