YAMAHA V-MAX

With the marketing tagline ‘think of it as a motorcycle on steroids’, it is clear the Yamaha V-Max
is a seriously powerful bike. Sometimes described as a cruiser or dragster, this macho bike is
known for its powerful 70° V4 engine, shaft drive and distinctive styling. When it was first
released in 1985, the V-Max was crowned ‘Bike of the Year’ by Cycle Guide. The motorcycle
received a minor refresh in 1993 — including a larger-diameter fork to minimise wobbling and
drift — but otherwise largely retained its original specifications until 2007.
