Some other Local Attractions
In the historic downtwn area of Belmont, there are a number of restaurants, an old-fashioned general store, a number of boutiques, and the Belmont Historical Society Museum. If you are looking for antiques, you can visit the Piccolo Antique Mall and the Catawba River Antique Mall. There are also the Rivermen Brewery (704-266-0262) and the Muddy River Distillery (704-860-8389), both of which offer tours. I recommend you call them at the above numbers for hours and prices.
About five miles away from downtown Belmont off of New Hope Road is the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. This is a truly beautiful place, consisting of over 400 acres featuring 23 different venues along winding pathways. It takes about an hour and a half to do a full tour. Cameras with long lenses seemed to be aimed at exotic blossoms everywhere when my wife and I visited last March. The Orchid Conservatory was enthralling. Admission is $11.95 for seniors. L
