Loomis Annual Report 2017
Risk management 43
Target
Loomis only accepts controlled risks and makes every effort to prevent personal injury and nancial losses,
and to minimize the risks that are accepted.
Risk Strategy
The Group’s
risk management strategy is based on tow fundamental principles: No loss of life and
a balance between pro tability and risk
of theft and robbery.
Loomis’ job is to take over some of the customers’ risks. How do you ensure their trust?
We are a strong organization that works with operational risk manage- ment from the central Group level to the country level. Risk management is controlled centrally based on com- mon guidelines, processes and tools so that risk management is integra- ted into day-to-day work. But each branch manager “owns” the risks at the local level. This is important. The branch managers are the ones that are the most familiar with the local conditions; they know the customers and the local environment and the-
refore have a better understanding than anyone else of what the risks are and how to manage them. This is an important principle for Loomis.
What are the most important factors for ef cient risk manage- ment?
To never allow ourselves to be satis ed! That feeling of believing we have everything under control is dangerous. To avoid it we have to work continuously and systematical- ly to maintain ef cient risk manage- ment. At Loomis we are proactive in identifying risks and then evaluating, managing and monitoring them. We
have structures in place to exchange experiences and share ef cient processes to constantly develop
the way we work with risk. We must never be rest on our laurels. It’s also important for risk management to be an integrated part of our operations. We ensure this through the Loomis Model. Loomis employees are constantly working proactively and identifying, assessing, managing and following up risks. They are also always exchanging experiences
with each other. We have frequent review sessions and we organize workshops and other exercises to develop risk mitigation.
