SECTION 5: HEALTH AND SAFETY
5.1 HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
The Company places the greatest importance on issues relating to health, safety and welfare and
undertakes to conduct its operations in such a way as to ensure, in so far as is reasonably practicable,
that its employees, contractors and members of the public are protected from risks to health and
safety.
To this end, we will endeavour to create and develop a working environment in which there is an
awareness of the vital importance of health, safety and welfare.
A copy of the Company Health and Safety Statement is available to all employees and will be made
available to all new employees on induction to the Company.
5.2 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees have a duty to take reasonable care of their own safety at work and that of any other
person who may be affected by their acts or omissions. You have a responsibility to do all you can to
prevent an injury to yourself, colleagues and others. This will include the reporting of any unsafe
conditions as soon as you become aware of them. Employees also have a duty to co-operate with their
employer to enable them to comply with statutory provisions e.g. evacuation during a fire drill. You
also have the duty to familiarise yourself with and conform to the Company's health safety and welfare
policies and procedures.
Failure to observe the Company's health, safety and welfare policies and procedures may result in
disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
5.3 ACCIDENTS AT WORK
If you have an accident or near miss at work, you must report the accident to a MANAGER on the day
of the accident. A MANAGER will complete an accident investigation form and record it in the company
Accident Report Book. If you identify a situation that may cause an accident however minor, you must
advise a MANAGER to ensure that procedures are put in place to eliminate or reduce the risk of an
accident occurring. All accidents at work will be investigated and, where appropriate, corrective action
will be taken to prevent a recurrence.
5.4 FIRST AID
First Aid kits are available at several locations in the Company premises and in each Company owned
vehicle.
5.5 CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION
Closed Circuit Television cameras are in used on our premises for reasons of security and health and
safety. We reserve the right to use any evidence obtained in this manner in any disciplinary issue.
5.6 EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES
The procedures to follow in the event of evacuation are demonstrated during statutory training and
at regular intervals by means of a fire drill. It is necessary for you to familiarise yourself with these
procedures.
