Sector For this to to to to function certain local legislation needs to to to to be amended to to to reflect the the the the development of the the the the Voluntary Organizations Act If this does not not happen then the the the the the Council shall not not have the the the the recognition that it it it it is is appropriate and to to give to it it by the the Law itself The new Council has much work in in in front of of it to to be undertaken in in in the the the the the the coming months to to to achieve the the the the the the goals of of the the the the the the National Strategy so that the the the the the the the sector is is strengthened and given the the the the the the the recognition it it deserves But more than this we feel the the the the need that sense of volunteering volunteering is is is inserted even in in in in our children and youth because to do some volunteering volunteering is is is is not only a a a a a a a a a a personal satisfaction but assists in in in the the the the character development of of the the the the individual and strengthens the the the the the social fibre of of our communities The time has also come for the the the the the Council to undertake a a a a a a a a a a review of of the the the the the funds it administers so so that these may better serve to to continue to to strengthen and disseminate the the the the work of of volunteering This Council is is is determined to to to be be be closer to to to the the the sector and this may only be be be done by being more more present in in in the the the the work work of the the the the sector where together we see that this work work is is more more efficient and and useful without the the duplication of funds and and resources Dr Noel Camilleri LL LL D D LL LL M M Chairman - MCVS
