#HOCKEYVACCINATION CAMPAIGN
LOCAL NOMINATION
Written by: Tina Booth
Madoc local arena manager,
nominated Karen and Harold Bailey
to be part of #HockeyVacciNation
campaign by the Next Stride. The
goal of the campaign is to celebrate
the camaraderie and teamwork
with POSITIVE hockey stories
across Canada as players look
forward to getting back on the ice.
Karen and Harold Bailey were recognized for over 30 years of organizing the Bruce Lee Hockey team. Which was started back in 1993
with the passing of a special coach Bruce Lee, who lost his life in an unexpected accident. The Bruce Lee Hockey team is an inexpensive
and inclusive Hockey option for families in our community that might not be able to play otherwise. By acquiring donations from local
people and businesses the team is able to provide the full hockey equipment necessary. The equipment is on a borrow and return policy
for as long as needed with new equipment being donated each year. The program is 14 weeks long and ends before March break each
year at a fraction of the cost and is run by volunteers who once used the program themselves. There are now 12 teams, 6 junior and 6
senior that play on Thursday and Friday nights at the Madoc Arena.

WHO'S UP FOR A ROAD TRIP?
There's a 2km trail just past Kingston, Ontario (Murphy's Point
Provincial Park) where you can explore an old, abandoned mine
from the early 1900's.
How cool does this look? It's 40
meters down, and you can hike it
yourself if you buy their $1 trail
map.
