TECH TALK
Welcome to another month of tech talk. To update or upgrade that is the question.
I have many clients that come in with older computers that overall seam to work but may be slowing down and have the
odd hiccup. Most places will simply say well its time to upgrade into a new computer. This in itself may seam like a great
idea at the time but adds a few questions, what about my data and the programs I use on a regular basis and what about my
email and other peripherals attached to my computer?
So, if you plan on upgrading consider the above questions. If this is the route you decide to go, make sure you have your
data on an external device, your email account information with passwords and your Wi-Fi password as well as any other
online passwords you may require with a new system. The other side is to explore what is slowing your system down, most
you can get away with a tune-up, which speeds your system back up and makes sure you are virus and malware free.
In other circumstances your hard drive may be coming to the end of its life span and slowing down. This can be changed
and your data in most cases can be transferred to the new drive. If this is the case I highly recommend going to an SSD
(Solid state drive) hard drive which is much faster than its predecessor.
My recommendation in the above would be to explore your computer first then see what works best for your situation.
Until next month, be safe and if you are not sure ASK.
