SECTION 3
"A RENDEVOUZ WITH MOSSAD"
One of the interesting aspects of being a broker at Lloyd’s in London is the fact that in the course of your professional life you got to meet personalities and characters that do not show up in the experiences of normal working people: world famous personalities that filled the columns of the yellow press, politicians, mafia bosses from all over the world, agents, the „sharks of the world of finance“, entrepreneurs, charlatans, and eccentrics engaged in building up empires. The encounters are partly bizarre or bordering on absurdity; however Brokers start by looking on each of them as serious, faithful to the slogan: a Lloyd’s broker always finds a golden grain amid the scattered seeds. Actually we were prepared for everything and constantly ready to fly everywhere at the firm’s cost, including during crises and in war zones if it had to be. Our conservative clothing masked the hard core that a Lloyd’s broker must have if he wants to succeed. We were agents protected by the corporation, the „Crown“. We had a Mission. What often escaped our attention, was how close we „sailed to the wind“, putting us in personal danger, when entering territories unknown, where our protection did not help us much.

It had rained all day but otherwise it was an ordinary morning. I was involved in routine works, tired and uninspired, when Moira came into our room and said-
"There are two people who rang and asked if they could come over to talk about insurance coverage for, political risk '-your field Harry - I think they are Israelis“ James Duck was travelling and we were looking for new production. We looked at each other and said:
“To hell with company policy let us talk to them, we sort the company rules out later” We needed business. Two hours later Moira led two people in our office, whose abstruse appearance, was right for any “Hollywood” set, it just was not to beat - especially as they presented themselves as business partners.
