It was not my idea of spending the evening, but then I never saw a Baseball Match live and I felt something like suspense - it was taking place in the Bronx and the prospect that we were going by the sub-way caused me a bit of anxiety - though I am not a coward. But Douglas however radiated confidence, even in the subway when we rode up to the stadium and the ride lived up to all prejudice you could possibly harbour having read the press reports- it was not a place you wanted to be at any time in those days. The coach was filled with tattooed junkies and all sorts of unpleasant sinister characters - but Douglas smiled them off and later we took our seats in the stadium.
