For me, HLA was a true God-send! I started out on the parent side when a great friend, Jackie May, told me about HLA. It was the middle of the Spring semester of my oldest son's Senior year and our "umbrella school" at the time informed us that they were not going to accept the curriculum I had chosen for my student even though I had been registered ALL YEAR with them! They told me there was nothing they could/would do and he just needed to go take the GED. UNACCEPTABLE!!! Plus, they told me it wasn't as important to have my 2 elementary students registered at the time in TN. I could have been in so much trouble! So, needless to say, after spending hours in the HLA office and on the phone with Lynn, HLA accepted our family and our curriculum choices. It wasn't long after I became a staff member working the beloved phones. So for me, HLA means family, support, showing a Christian attitude always, flexibility, being able to cater to the needs of my students while working and being able to help meet the needs of other struggling families.
I also love the caring attitude of the administration and team leaders. HLA is truly a safe haven, a place where we can bring our prayer requests and concerns to others and be loved not judged, comforted not cast aside, Spiritually uplifted not looked down on. I will always be grateful for the heart of HLA, striving to minister to others the way you have ministered to me.

HLA is not only just a place to work for me,
it is a place of encouragement and love as well. I can't say enough about how much I love all of the staff I work with, but a big shout out to the administration. The administration of HLA is outstanding! You treat all of your staff the same way, you love and cherish all of us and that means so much to me! I also really enjoy the flexibility of working for HLA as well. I was blessed with the opportunity to continue working for HLA even after I got married and moved away. And as a newly married young lady this is truly the perfect job! Words really can't even express how much I love working for HLA! This is by far the best company to work for. Thanks for all you do my HLA family.

Thisiseasyforme-IgettodowhatI LOVE to do and what God made me to do and get paid for it! Beginning with my kids, early on, all my friends would say," I can't believe you are getting paid to do what you've always done anyway- counsel homeschool moms!" It's really the perfect job- I get to work from home, set my own hours, and minister to families and students all day long! Chris often remarks that he is jealous because I have such a ministry through my work with HLA. Also, it's so rewarding to be able to help these senior homeschooling kids realize their dreams! HLA has always been, first and foremost, a ministry to homeschoolers, but it has always been a family to me also. I tell new moms that, even though I had been homeschooling through another umbrella school for 12 years before HLA came along, I never felt like I was a part of a homeschool family! So I make others feel like this is their family, too, and many moms have told me that! So, beginning with David and April, and down to the newest employee, I've always felt that love and connection of a family. Some of us are "out there" (physically, I mean- lol) but when we get together , it's like seeing a sister or brother that you haven't seen in awhile!! Hugs and kisses to you all!
From 17+ years as a homeschool mom & area volunteer in the homeschool community, to working at HLA, was one of the most natural transitions I've ever made! I appreciate the flexibility so very much, the positive work environment, the focus, the mission, the ministry, the passion for helping homeschool families.....all these things make HLA a great place to be. Here at HLA I'm at home "with my people" and it's a wonderful feeling.
Love to all of you!
