Valedictorian
Born in Florida, Joel attended public elementary school before he began
homeschooling in the fifth grade when his family moved to Greeneville, Tennessee. From playing with K’NEX as a little boy, to drawing, skateboarding, basketball or politics, Joel has always been a kid with varied and focused interests. He never does things halfway, but puts his heart and soul into his passions. Joel takes the initiative to get out of his comfort zone, so he is challenged to grow spiritually, intellectually and physically. He seeks spiritual mentors, crafts a reading list to further his own education in areas such as history, economics and politics and maintains discipline as he regularly pursues physical strength and health. Joel is known to be a thoughtful and contemplative young man who thinks deeply before speaking, which makes what he has to say very interesting! Kind and considerate, Joel is also very fun and has an excellent sense of humor. Most importantly, Joel has a relationship with Jesus that continues to grow as he seeks Him daily through the reading of scripture and in prayer. In the fall, Joel is looking forward to pursuing his interest in economics as part of the Brock Scholars
Honors Program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
