P. 6

John (Yohanan) or Yohi as he is affectionately called at home with his Israeli nickname, was
born in Haifa, Israel in July 1999 to a father who is originally from Moscow, Russia and a mother hailing from Washington, D.C. From the time John was born, he has had both a reflective and joyful soul. At the age of six weeks, John and his parents moved to go to Bible school in the United States, with only five suitcases to their names! John grew up for the first years of his life in and around the Pensacola, Florida area. He grew to love the Blue Angels that practiced in the sky over his home, worshipping God while playing various instruments and playing soccer for the Oasis Bees. Right before John started kindergarten in 2004, he and his parents and his baby sister moved to Nashville for his dad to work at Dell. Soon after, they learned of HomeLife Academy and the rest is history!
He has always loved to read, especially about history, politics and more recently, Christian thought and Apologetics. John has continued with his love of worship on the worship band in the Grace Chapel High School Ministry while playing the guitar, bass and Cajon. He has thoroughly enjoyed playing high school soccer for the Williamson County Soccer Association (WCSA) and even working as a U.S. Soccer Federation referee. John has displayed such a servant’s heart in his family, as his mother has battled some serious health issues, by sacrificially helping out at home and becoming his sibling’s backyard soccer coach. He has truly sought after truth and God’s heart and has a desire to use the gifts God has given him. John is so thankful he will have a chance to grow in his education and his walk with God at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia this coming fall.
John’s parents are thankful for HomeLife Academy and for all of the love and care it has put into his education. “Many thanks to Lani Carey, all of the HLA high school staff and all of the teachers who have poured into John’s life! We could not have done this without you!”
Blessings, Ivan and Rachel Nekrasov.
