       Impact of COVID-19
For the Facilities team COVID-19 has resulted in huge changes. While in the hard services team, utilities have not only had to stay running but upgrades and shutdowns have had to planned to perfection to maintain delivery of service.
For soft services there has been a monumental change, catering have had to change and adapt to not only constant variations in onsite numbers but also new canteens with the satellite canteens in both buildings. Cleaning has not only seen the continuation of high cleaning standards onsite, but the multitude of additional COVID-19 enhanced cleans and also numerous sanitizing and IPA stations to maintain.
Security have had to adapt to the new processes in place and ever-changing issuing of forms and masks. They were the true front line in meeting vendors and visitors through the year. With the project, admin, and energy team the new ways of working have had the most impact. Remote working, planning and scheduling vendors for projects and rotation of onsite and offsite have come with all the challenges we are adapting to. While the country went to lockdown the site stayed open
for business – all be it in a new way of working. Utilities
– Electricity, Gas, Water, Coolant, HVAC, Chilled Water,
Hot Water, Wastewater, Compressed Air etc. all needed to be maintained, upgraded, managed, controlled for safety, compliance, quality and cost. The facilities team maintained their high standards throughout the year and managed to juggle schedules to ensure projects were completed and closed against all of the obstacles COVID-19 could throw the year.
Maeve Boland stepped into the GSM (General Services Manager) position 12 months ago and has led the Sodexo team at the front line of the crisis. With over 70 personnel in her team managing, catering, cleaning, security, handymen and COVID-19 Community Coordinator it has been a busy year with long hours and late nights and extended working weeks. Maeve’s can-do attitude, connection with her team and work ethic have resulted in the site being open for business!
