PLAN
During 2020, the PP&L team like many other colleagues moved to a combination of working remotely and on site. Face-to-face meetings are missed where virtual meetings have taken over. Keeping connected is essential in this new virtual world with the daily Pulse meeting ensuring we connect regularly.
2020 Achievements:
• Understanding our volume changes due to the global challenge and translating that to a monthly production plan was a critical activity for PP&L through the year.
• NPI launches and product transfers successfully supported from a PP&L perspective (HA coated products, Cementless, Global Shoulders, Suzhou transfers).
• Control Tower process continues to mature and was rolled out to Suzhou site and inventory returns
• Supplier Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process has been standardized globally and became
a critical communication pathway with our suppliers through COVID-19 constraints.
• The construction of the new site warehouse is well under way – looking forward to moving in Q1
New Warehouse - Open Q1, ‘21
• In Q2, the COCI (continuous improvement process) was piloted and implemented successfully in PP&L –thanks Sean
• Due to the global pandemic, it
was more challenging than ever to
ensure we had sufficient supplies of • masks, gloves and other PPE materials
on site. Great work done by David to
keep stocks supplied through the year

Meet Brendan O’Connor:
I am one of the newest members of
the planning team joining in Sept 2019.
I have worked in a number of different areas in Trays, Sigma and currently in
Poly Value Stream. Coming from an Engineering background I enjoyed the transition to PP&L which involved learning a whole new side to the business and trying to understand new metrics such
as Attainment to Schedule, Back Order, and Inventory Entitlement. It can be challenging!!...especially given the level of projects and equipment moves across the plant combined with the challenges that
lockdown drives. I really enjoy my interactions with other functions across the site. Planning cannot function without
the support of other departments and vice versa. It is also great knowing that what you do directly impacts the patient, ensuring the right product is always available where needed.
COVID-19 has brought many different challenges for everyone. The main change for me was the adjustment to working from home which was a major shock at the beginning and a realization that I need a major upgrade on my home Wi-fi!!
