Leadership Jefferson Class XIV
The Leadership Jefferson Class XIV had the Agriculture module in
October. The day started at the WVU Tree Fruit Research Station
with guest speakers: Dr. Amy Tabb, USDA Appalachian Fruit
Research Lab; and Emily Morrow, WVU Jefferson County Ag Agent.
The class participated in a Mix & Match activity, Farm grains to
Consumer goods. After the Fruit Research Station, the class traveled
to Lyle C. Tabb & Sons, Inc for a tour of the beef cattle, crops &
compost/recycling before lunch catered by Fresh Feast on the Farm.
After lunch, the class toured Taylor Mt. Farm owned by James &
John Casey where the class got a first hand look at horse breeding,
training, & racing. The day wrapped up with a tour of Oakwood
Farm at milking time with Eddie & Todd Hough on their dairy farm.
Thank you to all the guest speakers who took time out of their busy
schedules to speak to Leadership Jefferson about Agriculture in
Jefferson County.
