 Chicago Lodge 7 Officer Awards
Police Officer Leslie Sierra Star #10501
Police Officer Curtis Alequin Star # 10028
On April 30, 2018, a driver was traveling southbound through a red light and was struck by another vehicle traveling east- bound. Officers Alequin and Sierra responded to the crash sec- onds after it occurred.
Observing the southbound vehicle upside down, the officers quickly exited their vehicle and ran to the victim. Upon arrival, they observed the victim was injured, and they were unable to open the driver’s door.
The officers smashed out both front windows and removed the victim from her vehicle to render aid. As they were extract-
ing her from the vehicle, they observed the extensive bleeding and damage to the victim’s left arm. The officers applied a “cat” tourniquet to control the extensive bleeding.
Their actions were instrumental in saving the victim’s arm and possibly her life. The entire event was captured on body camera.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Po- lice Chicago Lodge 7 presents Officers Leslie Sierra and Curtis Alequin with lifesaving awards. d
