An election season to remember
Much to the relief of most of us, the elec- tions are over. No one I have spoken with claims to have seen an election season quite like this one. Each election brings its own craziness and interesting stories but this one has all of that in spades. Now back to govern- ing...we hope. As I write this, it looks like Park Ridge native Hillary Clinton will
one of those targeted districts that lies partially within the City of Chicago is where incumbent Mike McAuliffe is in the midst of a heated campaign. This Northwest Side district is a top race in the state. The State FOP and Chicago’s Lodge 7 have endorsed McAuliffe for re-elec- tion. Even though there are tens of millions of dollars
being spent by both sides in Illinois, there are only a few close races. The Democrats currently hold

not only win her home state of Illinois but is the favorite to beat Donald Trump in the General Election to become our next president. R
super majorities in both the House and Senate. Once the election is over, the focus will move to veto session. As we have discussed in previ- ous issues, we have SB 440, which is sponsored by Chicago Democrats, Senator John Mulroe and Repre- sentative Dan Burke. Strong bipartisan majorities in both the House and Senate passed that bill, but it re- ceived an amendatory veto from the governor. In this veto session, we will attempt to override that veto. We are working closely with the firefighters on this import-

The Illinois Legislative campaigns have seen
an unprecedented amount of money spent on
both sides of the aisle. There are several State Leg- islative races that have been on network television for weeks and, in a couple of cases, months. That means that for a district that has 100,000 residents in it, the ads have been sent to the entire Chicago area with several million people. That is on top of the dozens of mailers, hundreds of phone calls and thousands of doors knocked on in each of these districts. The only
