On June 22,
Officers Lau-
ra MacDonald
and Jorge Mu-
ralles respond-
ed to assist
Police Officers
Javier Alvarez
and David Lem-
mon with a call
of shots fired.
While touring
the area, they were flagged down by citizens who told them that there were gang members further down the street. As they drove down the street to in- vestigate, gunshots rang out, striking their squad. MacDonald and Muralles took cover, called for a 10-1 and then pursued the offenders on foot. Alvarez
and Lemmon also gave pursuit.
The offender fled from the scene and attempted to elude the police in the alley behind the nearby rail yard,
however with the coordinated efforts of Alvarez and Lemmon, MacDonald and Muralles were able to successful- ly place the offender into custody before he was able to make his escape.
Officers Alexander Franco and Jose Valdovinos, of the neighboring district, also responded to the call of 10-1. They located a second offender fleeing from the scene, and successfully placed him into custody, as well. Finally, a systematic search of the area following this incident allowed the officers to recover the weapon used.
Through the impressive and professional coordinated efforts of all officers involved, two dangerous offenders were put away and another weapon was removed from the city’s streets.
It is with great appreciation that Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7, presents Officers Laura Mac- Donald, Jorge Muralles, Alexander Franco, Jose F. Valdovinos, David C. Lemmon and Javier Alvarez with Dis- tinguished Service Awards. d

Star #13370
Police Officer Stephen R. Storck, Star #15626
On December 26, 2015, Officers Joseph Montes De Oca and Stephen R. Storck responded to a call on 103rd Place. There, the officers en- countered an offender firing gunshots into an occupied home. Because of the imme- diate danger to the residents and others in the area, the officers immediately con- fronted the armed gunman. Montes De Oca and Storck bravely faced the gunman and ordered him to drop his weapon.
At that time, the gunman turned toward Montes De Oca, brandishing his weapon. Montes De Oca, fearing for his life and the life of all others present, was forced to fire his weapon at the offender, subsequently striking and then neutralizing the threat. The officers then were able to secure the
offender and protect the scene until assisting units arrived.
The offender was eventually charged with Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, Aggravated Discharge of a
Weapon to Occupied Residence and UUW by Felon. This case was cleared and closed by arrest and prosecution by Area South detectives on June 23.
It is with great appreciation that Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7, presents Officers Joseph G. Montes De Oca, and Stephen R. Storck with Distinguished Service Awards. d
