Cops and the Community
It’s the time of year when people’s thoughts turn to helping and showing appreciation for others. Chicago Police Officers are no strangers to celebrating the holiday season in a variety of ways, from handing out special meals to collecting toys for deserving children. Community members returned the favor with signs of appreciation for the officers who keep them safe.
24th District
7th District
A true sign of Christmastime, the CTA Holiday Train got its start in Engle- wood and the 7th District, where an officer shares a moment with Santa right after Thanksgiving.
3rd District
Father Matt O’Donnell and students from St. Columbanus show support for 3rd District officers with a special doughnut delivery.
Officers take turns as servers during the 24th District’s annual Thanksgiv- ing dinner for the community at Tapas Valencia restaurant. Hundreds of people have enjoyed the special meal in recent years.
