Using their pull
On May 29, Officers Coltri, Cruz, Galvan, Reyes and Thompson were working in the 7th District when a call came of an attempted suicide at an apartment build- ing at 65th Street and Marshfield.
Upon arrival, the officers observed a male subject hanging out of the window screaming, “I’m going to do it.”
The officers ran up to the room to pull the male subject away from his suicide attempt. They grabbed him by the belt, but the belt snapped. A struggle ensued, with one of the officer eventually restraining him.
The subject was then transported to Holy Cross Hospital for evaluation, where doctors indicated that he had ingested bleach prior to the officers’ arrival.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7 honors Officers Dean Coltri, Daisy Cruz, Charles Galvan, Beverly Reyes and John Thompson, Jr., by presenting them with Lifesaving Awards. d
