Coffee with a Cop perks up community engagement
National Coffee with a Cop Day originated in California in 2011 and has grown in size and scope across the country ever since.
Meeting up with citizens at the neighborhood McDonald’s or coffee shop isn’t anything new to Chicago Police Officers, who have regularly scheduled such get-togethers through numerous district CAPS offices.
While many districts held events to coincide with the national event in early October, officers around the City shared coffee with residents during numerous coffee klatches over several weeks to discuss safety and other topics as a way to bolster community engagement. d
