On June 25, 2021, officers responded to a person shot at 210 S. Cicero Ave. The 015th District SDSC room relat- ed to Zone 12 that a POD camera in the area captured the shooting, in which an armed offender was hanging from his driver’s-side window and shooting at a passing vehicle. The shooter’s abysmal aim and errant disregard for human life caused an innocent female bystander to be struck in the leg with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
The officers immediately utilized their training and life- saving skills and applied a tourniquet to stop the excessive
bleeding. EMS finally arrived on scene and transported the victim to the hospital, where the staff related that the offi- cers’ actions contributed to saving the victim’s life. The of- fender was subsequently placed into custody by other 015th District officers and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon (go figure) and possession of a controlled substance.
