The McCarthy Group pays tribute to veterans
The McCarthy Group recognized the U.S. Armed Forces at a cer- emony at St. John Fisher Church in Chicago on Nov. 15 in honor of Veterans Day.
The organization was founded following 9-11 to honor fallen vet- erans, those serving and those who have served. At the ceremony, more than 40 “Gold Star” families–those who have lost CPD Officers in the line of military duty–were present for the flag ceremony.
The group has given out more than 150 combat flags, which have flown in active combat areas and at Ground Zero on the World Trade Center site, to families of military personnel, firefighters and police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
Chicago Lodge 7 President Dean Angelo, Sr., read off a list of more than 50 names of those killed while serving before Chicago Fire Department Lieutenant, and co-founder of The McCarthy Group, Pat McCauley presented Angelo with the Group Award honoring Chicago Lodge 7 for its dedication to Officers and support of the organization.
