Chicago Police Officers put it all on the line to support seniors during COVID-19 outbreak
As cities across the world call for citizens to shelter in place to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, first responders are stepping up to the front lines to ensure the safe- ty of those in need. Chicago Police Department officers have taken action to keep citizens informed and healthy during the pandemic that has changed normal life for many. CPD Districts are posting community safety alerts and updates on social me- dia urging the community to stay home, wash hands often and limit social gatherings.
In many CPD Districts, officers have made a point of reach- ing out to those who need help most, by performing wellness calls to senior citizens in self-isolation. Officers from the 6th, 14th, 15th, 16th and many more Districts regularly make calls to check in with seniors during this difficult time. Officers in the 15th District also delivered care packages to those who are most vulnerable to the virus. All officers delivering care pack- ages took necessary precautions and limited their exposure to residents.
The extraordinary efforts of CPD first responders helping safeguard members of the community make all the difference for those in need – and for the entire city.
