Making music in the 1st District
A blind artist named Juan Hernandez stood at the Jackson Blue Line CTA station on March 7 following a performance with his prized guitar, which has his full name printed on the front, when a man grabbed the instrument and fled on a train.
In an exemplary demonstration of the 1st District caring for its community, its tactical officers swiftly engaged, utilizing the CTA’s sprawling surveillance camera network to track down the thief, arrest him and reunite Hernandez with his beloved pos- session.
“From the bottom of my heart, thanks a million to all mem- bers of the CPD,” Hernandez shared in a Facebook comment. “Thanks for recuperating my instrument and allowing me to continue doing what I love, making and playing music.”
